🧹 Time for a Winter App Cleanout

A friend of mine told me something interesting last week.

“Minosh, I’m done grabbing those holiday software deals.”

I asked him why.

He said he used to grab every offer that looked useful.

Twenty percent off this. Lifetime access to that.

Every new tool the internet treated like it could fix his whole life with one button.

At first, he thought he was being clever, saving money, and felt like a secret tech ninja collecting weapons.

Then he noticed something.

Most of those tools sat there untouched.

And the worst part, he was walking through mud every time he tried to get work done.

Password reset here.

Update this app there.

A popup from some tool he tried months ago and forgot to cancel.

Every simple task turned into a choice between many tools.

If this feels familiar, your tool stack might be the problem, not you.

Big companies run on huge software stacks and many of us copy that without noticing.

The result is too many logins, too many settings, and very little focus.

Let’s make sure this stops happening to you.

➡️ Make a tool map

Write down every tool you use, how much it costs each month, and what job it does.

Just one simple list.

If your list still has ten different apps just for notes, plans, or docs, Notion can handle most of those in one spot.

That’s what I use every day, along with Todoist for my personal stuff.

➡️ Cut what does nothing

Look at the last 60 days. If a tool has not saved clear time or helped you make money, cancel it. You can always come back later if you really miss it.

You don’t need both ChatGPT and Claude either. Pick the one you use the most and drop the other.

➡️ Pick one tool per job

Choose one main tool each for email, website, analytics, and AI. Stick to those. Only add a new tool when you have a real reason, not just curiosity or if you see a cool offer you are going to miss out on tomorrow.

If your setup looks plain but you actually know what’s going on, you’re winning.

Stay curious,

Minosh.

Last week I was at a small garage fixing my little hatchback. The owner never posted a single reel. Yet cars kept coming in like it was planned. There are so many garages that barely get a few cars a day, even though their place looks modern. But this place was full. So I asked the guy who did my brake lining how they get so many customers. He smiled and said, “Our regulars bring their friends.” That’s the real play. And he’s right. The reason I was actually there was because one of my...

I’m not a fan and not even using it, but last week, I opened LinkedIn, saw a smart post from a small creator, and thought, “Nice.” Then I checked their profile. No huge following. Just valuable posts, posted around three times a week, teaching one thing tied to one clear niche. That’s the thing most of us still miss. LinkedIn isn’t only for suits and job posts, well, not anymore. It’s one of the few places where simple posts still work, and native documents (carousels) can get real reach....

You open your favorite social media app. Everything looks perfect. Too perfect. There are trends, the same viral song, the same outfit, the same dance. Same AI saying this works now, do that next. You didn’t ask for it. It just keeps coming. The feed decides it. We let algorithms decide what we see and tell us what we’re supposed to like. That’s the drama right now. So the real cost is quiet but kind of serious: you start losing your own sense of taste. Recently, Pinterest shared January 2026...
