🌈 The Emotional Language of Colors

You may not think much about color, but your website visitors, customers, social media followers, newsletter subscribers, and potential business partners do, even if they don’t realize it.

Studies show that 62% to 90% of product choices are made based on color alone… and it happens in just 90 seconds.

That’s fast. And it matters.

So, what do colors actually mean to people?

Here’s what I’ve learned about how colors make people feel:

🔴 Red/Orange: Brings urgency and energy. Great for fast food, sales, and impulse buys.

🔵 Blue: Builds trust and calmness. Used by banks, healthcare, and software companies.

🟡 Yellow: Sparks optimism and grabs attention. Think clearance tags, toy brands, or creative ads.

🟢 Green: Feels natural and peaceful. Ideal for wellness brands or eco-friendly businesses.

⚫ Black: Signals luxury and power. Often seen in fashion or high-end electronics.

But context matters too.

For example, a bright red might signal “spicy” for a hot sauce brand but “emergency” for a medical alert system. A calm blue could mean “trustworthy” for a bank but “refreshing” for a water company.

Your colors are sending signals, even before you say a word.

So it’s a good idea to put your colors where they’ll catch eyes first: your logo, website header, product packaging, and major call-to-action buttons.

In other words, choose them with intention, based on the feeling you want people to have.

And there’s another thing, while colors are important, they’re not everything.

Think of your brand like baking a cake, colors are just the frosting!

What really matters is having a great product, treating customers well, and staying true to what you believe in.

Good colors can make your brand look better, but they won’t fix a broken business.

That said, if you’re interested in creating a brand identity with thoughtful color choices, check out my favorite tools here!

The second one on the list is ridiculously addictive, perfect for those just starting with brand colors or looking for fresh inspiration.

See you next time,

Minosh.

Ever heard of Mister Splashy Pants? Back in 2007, Greenpeace ran a poll to name a whale for their anti-whaling campaign. They expected serious names. But the internet had other plans. Someone suggested Mister Splashy Pants. People loved it. The name blew up on Reddit, won the vote, and Greenpeace had to roll with it. The best part? That silly name helped the campaign get massive attention, and it helped stop the hunt. It’s a reminder that sometimes the internet behaves in unexpected ways, and...

Ever scrolled through Pinterest, seen a cool design, and wondered if it was made by a human or AI? Pinterest knows this curiosity matters. Now they’re rolling out clear labels on Pins created or changed by AI, so you always know what you’re looking at. Here’s what you need to know as a creator or business using Pinterest: Check Your Pins I’ve seen many creators and businesses now use AI to create even full text pins and artwork, but now, Pinterest will mark Pins that are made or changed by...

Most people still treat ChatGPT like Google. They ask a vague question, get a vague result, and blame the tool. But here’s the thing, prompting isn’t about typing, it’s about thinking. The Truth Most Don’t See You’re probably using AI to speed up tasks. But what if you could use it to speed up your thinking? If you’re a creator, freelancer, or founder, you’ve likely felt this: “I don’t know how to ask it right.” “My outputs feel basic or off.” “I keep tweaking… but it’s never exactly right.”...
