🎬 The Netflix Effect

Have you ever found yourself glued to Netflix? You start watching just one episode, but before you know it, you’ve watched the whole show!

There’s actually a reason why this happens to all of us, and we can use these same tricks to make your marketing better.

Let’s face it: it’s tough to get people to read what we write these days.

Everyone’s busy scrolling through their phones, and there’s just so much stuff to read! Maybe you’ve spent hours writing something great, but hardly anyone reads it or takes action.

Does this sound like something you’ve dealt with?

👉 The Netflix Effect

It’s all about the way you present your information, which we call pacing, a powerful storytelling technique that keeps people engaged.

So, how can you use this in your marketing?

Think about writing a blog post about a new coffee shop.

You might start with setting the scene:

“Nestled in the heart of downtown, Brew Haven coffee shop brings together the finest artisanal beans, skilled baristas, and a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like your second home…”

Then switch to quicker, punchier reactions:

“Best latte I’ve ever had!”

“Can’t start my day without stopping here.”

“Their pastries are heavenly!”

See how that works? The detailed description draws readers in, while the short reactions add energy and authenticity.

Simply put, pacing helps keep your readers engaged, just like Netflix keeps you watching, with its mix of slow character development and exciting plot twists.

I know, this might sound pretty basic, but you’d be surprised how many people forget to use it!

Here’s another example:

“At GreenLeaf Landscaping, we specialize in transforming your outdoor space into a beautiful, functional garden, tailored to your style and needs…”

Then switch to a customer’s reaction:

“Here’s what one of our customers says: ‘Our yard looks amazing!’”

“Another customer shared: ‘They turned our overgrown backyard into a relaxing retreat!’”

“And one more: ‘Best landscaping service we’ve ever had!’”

You get the idea.

The Netflix Effect is just one of 5 powerful storytelling techniques we cover in our latest blog post.

The other four techniques, which are super helpful, will surely make your marketing a lot better!

Check out all five techniques here!

Catch you in the next episode,

Did you know? A survey by McKinsey found that 70% of buying experiences are based on how customers feel about the brand, not just the product itself. That’s powerful. And when you think about brands like Apple, it makes total sense. People don’t just buy an iPhone or a MacBook… They buy the feeling that comes with it. When you walk into an Apple Store or visit their website, everything feels easy, clean, and exciting. And when the product finally arrives at your door, even the box feels...

84% of people say they’ve been convinced to buy a product after watching a brand’s video That’s not a small number. That’s your sign to start doing video right. But here’s the thing… Most people overthink it. If you’ve ever felt stuck with what to post, Tony at LC Sign is showing how simple (and funny) it can be. (If you don’t know who the heck that is, Tony is a marketing professional from LC Sign, a Chinese illuminated signage company, who is known for his funny product videos on TikTok and...

When Tesla launched the Cybertruck, people expected something bold, but no one expected a truck with no visible logo. There’s no big badge on the front or back, just a tiny logo hidden in the headlight, barely noticeable. And they even posted a picture of Cybertruck on X saying, “Only truck that doesn’t need a logo to know what it is.” So why did they do that? Because the Cybertruck isn’t just another car. It doesn’t look like anything else on the road. By removing obvious branding, Tesla...
